Book: the dynamic laws of prayer

i am reading this book called "the dynamic laws of prayer" by catherine ponder. it is one of the books required by the spiritual counseling certification course i am taking. i am half way through and already find it useful. this book covers the definition of prayer, different levels of prayers, and how to apply prayers correctly and effectively. according to this book, the first step is to cleanse, release, and forgive so that we have room for more beautiful things and people to arrive. it seems easy to do. i gave it a try when i meditated last night. i was surprised how much emotional junk i accumulated when i practiced releasing them and forgiving myself. i feel lighter now. i am eager to test the healing prayer, prosperity prayer, and more. i am glad that i have found another powerful tool to enrich my spiritual growth and to apply in my practice.

i recommend this book.

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com

this book has been on the best seller list for some time. i read it about three years ago. at the time, the powder of manifestation was introduced and lots of people found it intriguing including me. it demonstrated exactly a famous Chinese proverb which says “what the heart desires, it shall come true.”

this book explains and includes simple exercises helping readers cultivate positive thoughts and attitudes which later may bring positive outcome to life.

as i was taught only negative beliefs growing up, the gears in my head were always driving me to the negative direction. it was difficult to switch sides. seeing things from the positive angel for the first time was scary. well, i didn’t have any choice either that or going back to the black hole. after practicing, practicing and more practicing, i saw the light behind this secret and learned to gradually trust it.

in the scary world of unknown and stared my business without any related experiences, the power of manifestation became the only lifeline i held on to. still now, i am practicing positive thinking when facing challenging scenarios.

this book helped me. i am sure it will also help those who are ready to see things from different angles.

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com

follow up: buckwheat pillows

after 6 months of using my buckwheat pillow every night, I still like it very much. it maintains the qualities of being refreshing and support to my neck.

the only thing i found it uncomfortable is that it looses its shape too easily after i fit it under my head and neck the perfect angel. this could due to the over sized pillow case i used. it simply gives the sack of buckwheat hulls too much room to move around. i shall try to locate a small pillow case and see if this can solve the problem.

still, it's a great organic pillow.

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com

what do you like to see yourself accomplish? it's ok to be creative!

another year just kicked in. well a half of January has passed. talking about new year's resolutions, friends have shared some of their great ideas. me? my lesson is to take better care of myself. for some reasons, i believed that taking care of myself was a selfish act or better yet, i didn't believe that i was worthwhile. after many lessons learned, i now believe that the "me" is a necessary vehicle to accomplish my work, goals, and dreams for this life time around. well, if i have my car maintained regularly, why can't i maintain or update myself the same?

new year also delivered a brand new idea. i thought why not make a "manifestation list" where i would like to see myself accomplish such as more studies, travel to, continue to be a better person, help those ready to be helped in my line of work, and many more. this now definitely sounds more positive than a new year's resolution list. with resolutions, it usually exhausts more painful efforts to look at my faults and try to turn the table around. unfortunately it also usually takes next 3 or more years to accomplish it or never.

they say that it takes 21 days to form a new habit or to let go one. the manifestation list definitely helps one direct energy creatively to attract new things, new people, new energy etc. a new healthy habit surely can replace an old one quicker.

what do you like to see yourself accomplish in 2009?

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com

another trick for hot days

oh, boy, there have been a few more hot waves combing the area since last month. I am definitely looking forward to the arrival of winter, hmmm, more precisely late fall/pre-winter.

an acupuncture point called “da zhui” is located at the based of the neck parallel to the shoulder level on the spine. its usage in acupuncture includes such as clearing heat, lowering fever, and detoxifying. so here i try to cool down myself in hot weather, i wet a towel and place/hang it on the back of my neck right where the acupuncture point is at. right away i feel a cooling breeze sweeping over my system. i was surprised that this actually works even only with a wet towel.

please give it a try and see for for yourself.

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com/

hot days, oh, my...

do you get headaches, feel agitated easily, crave icy drinks in hot days? i do. unfortunately hot days aren’t my kind of days even though i came from warm climate. I have been completely spoiled by the weather in the bay area.
even in the warm summer days, caring for our health is essential. here are a few notes of mine to share.

be aware of the temperature change from warm days to cooler days, from AC environment to warm outdoor, or from hot mid-days to cooler nights.

not to be overloaded with icy drinks or foods. the digestive system may be overwhelmed and therefore the indigestion or summer stomach flu occurred.

be hydrated. sweating means drinking. don’t wait ’til feeling thirsty.

fruits and veges are summer delights as always.

watermelon is definitely a summer good eat. it is a natural coolant especially the part closer to the skin. it has the similar function of a clear-heat herbal formula called “white tiger concoction.” there are Chinese dishes cooking with watermelon skin. some ladies even slice watermelon skins and place on the face just the same as using cucumber slices. however, watermelon may not be suitable for people with diabetes ’cause of it high sugar content.

mung bean is a Chinese traditional summer good eat. you will probably get this from a Chinese supermarket. mung bean is known of its detox and clearing heat property. here is my recipe if you feel adventurous enough. buy a bag of mung bean usually 14oz or 16oz bag for $1.50. pour a half bag into a pot and wash them, with 1000cc water and cook on low to medium fire. it takes about 20-30 minutes to be fully cooked. when you see the beans opened up, they are ready. you can add a bit sugar and/or a can of coconut milk to finish cooking. wait ’til it’s cool, serve by itself or with some fruit cocktail. it’s a very simple healthy summer dessert.

have a wonderful summer!

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com/

not enough time

have this ever happened to you? not enough time in hand? I do. 24 hours seems not enough anymore.

when I was a kid, time just wasn’t going fast enough. i wanted to enjoy the freedom of being an adult so bad. now still 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but i feel the time wheel turns so fast. just when new year merely arrives, Christmas shopping madness begins. i wonder why.

it could be that i don’t manage time well. yes, very possible. i tried multitasking. i tried concentrating on one thing at a time. Still time just isn’t enough.

finally the light bulb in my head lights up, i realize that “I” complicate myself my life with tons of thoughts, to-do lists, and more without knowing. of course i wouldn’t have enough time to sort out all while i create more to do post-it notes and that takes time too. and while i am too busy jogging on the hamster wheel, i forget to stop and appreciate the flow of time.

what’s your pace today? join me to stop, breathe, and smell the flowers.

back to http://www.lotushealingwellnesscenter.com/
